Mrs. S. |
|
Mrs. S came to AWCS with a deep, infected wound on
her left shin. The wound contained dead tissue and her leg was red, hot
and swollen. She had been advised by another medical practitioner that a
skin graft would be the correct treatment. She sought a second opinion
as she wanted to try a conventional treatment first.
AWCS treatment:
Mrs. S was put onto an oral antibiotic. In addition, her wound was
treated with topical antibiotics and an agent to remove the dead tissue.
A special anti-bacterial dressing was applied to her wound which was
changed bi-weekly for 5 weeks. Her dressing was then replaced by a
special dressing to encourage skin growth. Within 2 weeks, her wound was
completely healed.
